Well this isn't exactly a SG/VG Event request, but one that I'd like to see one of the DJs do in Feburary as we come closer to Valentines/Singles Awareness Day. I'm looking to see if any DJs are willing/interested in playing the whole of The Magnetic Fields' concept album: 69 Love Songs

REQUEST FORM

1. Name: The Magnetic Fields' 69 Love Songs

2. Description: Back in 1999, The Magnetic Fields (an indie pop group known for quirky lyrics and instrumentation) released a three-CD concept album featuring exactly what it said on the tin: a little under six dozen love songs with topics ranging from joy and jubilation to despair and longing. While the composer suggests that the songs aren't about love, but rather "about love songs", you'd be hard pressed to get through the whole thing without identifying with what is being sung about at least once.

3. Date: Presumably somewhere near 02/14/12, likely before.

4. Time: This depends on which DJ would want to take it on. Pyrria does discographies, which is sort of what we have here, but this kind of Indie Pop is more like what Dr Logos, Attercap, and DJ Cyclos would do. Playing all albums back to back is just under 3 hours (~173 mins). I'd like to hear it and see people's reactions, which means that it would be somewhere in the evening after 9PM EST.

5. Location: I think this would just be a normal DJ slot, so, wherever they wanted to do it.

6. Requested DJ(s): See above. I don't know who would be interested in talking about the albums or the songs, but I think it's a topical theme for the season, and I'm sure a lot of people haven't heard the album(s).

7. Musical styles: As above. However, the songs vary a LOT within the albums. Here's three of them:

Like you said, this isn't exactly an event request, but more of a suggestion for a theme show. Generally that would go in the individual DJ's forum but since you don't have a particular DJ in mind... we don't really have a place for that, do we? I'll poke the other DJs for you and see if anyone's interested. My show themes are set for the next few weeks, plus I am done at 9pm so you'd miss it anyway if I did it.
