Tuning In

Our stream and server status can be found at http://stream.thecaperadio.com:6592. You can tune in using our in-browser pop-up (which should work in all browsers and most mobile devices) or by using an application and connecting to http://stream.thecaperadio.com:6592/listen.pls. We broadcast using mp3 compression, so most applications with url support should be able to tune in. (Though their have been reports of issues with the VLC player, as it more natively supports OGG compression.) We recommend using one of the following applications:

Windows
  • MediaMonkey – a full-featured multi-media manager; it's the go-to app for many of our DJs.
  • foobar2000 – one of the few audio players out there that still keeps a low memory and processor footprint.
Mac
  • iTunes – because you probably have it installed already!
iOS
Android
  • We recommend ServeStream, it's free and has good ratings, though there may be some hanging/disconnect issues if using the KitKat Android OS.

NOTE FOR MOBILE DEVICES
If not using a wi-fi connection, streaming media for prolonged periods can have a signicant impact on your bandwidth usage. Tuning in can consume roughly 56 megabytes per hour. If you not connected via wi-fi and are on a limited data plan, we suggest monitoring your overall bandwidth usage regularly.

IRC

Our IRC details are as follows:
Server: cape.crimson.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #CapeRadio

Our in-browser app utilizes Kiwi IRC and can be accessed here. If you prefer full-browser width for IRC usage or your browser has issues rendering the application in a frame you can click here to open the in-browser client in a new window.

Kiwi IRC only supports a limited amount of connections, but we also have a Mibbet-enabled IRC embed here. If you experience connection issues with Kiwi, please try that!

Reccomended alternatives to our in-browser app(s) include:
  • mibbit – an in-browser application that also accomodates for IM communication.
  • mIRC – a fully featured IRC application that offers a 30-day trial, after which a cost $20 is required for its lifetime licence.
  • IceChat – an IRC application that may require a bit more set-up time than mIRC, but costs $20 less (it's free).
  • Palaver – one of the most highly-rated iOS IRC clients for a cost of $2.99.
  • AndChat – a free IRC application for Android devices.
